		<description>I think gmail had two major advantages going in.  People trusted google to be around for a while (though that may have been misplaced trust consider google's wandering eye).  And more importantly, people knew that they wanted search (which google had a track record with) because their current search sucked.  

I can definitely see moving to a more featured email web-client, but search that just works still has to be there; for me at least.</description>
